Loaded Roasted Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy

Oh how I do love cooking Twinkies on my Char-Broil Big Easy. They’re the world’s easiest dessert, topped with darn near anything you have in the pantry, fridge or freezer. The Twinkies take only a few minutes to get a nice little crunch on the outside, while the insides get all oooey gooey. I topped my loaded roasted Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy with Nutella, marshmallows, whipped cream, toffee and for a hint of healthy, some fresh strawberries.

Loaded Roasted Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy

Spreading a bit of Nutella on the Twinkies first gives the remaining ingredients something to hold onto. They don’t slide off and into the pan. That’s not to say that if they did slide off that it’d be the end of world. The more toppings the better because loaded roasted Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy are meant to be loaded!

The bunk bed basket lets you double the amount of cooking space you have on your Big Easy. And it’s easy to take in and out of the cooker too!

Also make up a batch of chocolate chip cookies or some bloomin’ apples for dessert. On your Big Easy. Yep, that’s right, on your Big Easy!

Instructions

  • Fire up your Big Easy.
  • Spread most of the Nutella out on the bottom of the pie pan.
  • Add the Twinkies then top with the remaining Nutella (It gives the marshmallows something to stick to).
  • Place into the Big Easy for 10 minutes or until the Twinkies start to brown and crisp a bit and the marshmallows have melted.
  • Remove and add whipped cream, Toffee and berries. Serve.

Notes

You’ll need a small pie pan or other dish for the Twinkies. Do not roast them directly on the Big Easy rack.

Cedar Planked Twinkies

Grilled Twinkies are a great thing. Cedar planked Twinkies are a wonderful thing. Just a light hint of cedar takes a simple dessert to a new place. You can top them with whatever you have on hand. For me that meant Nutella (a good thing no matter what, but also good to keep your other toppings from falling off of the Twinkies), ooey-gooey marshmallows, crunchy toffee and of course, whipped cream.

Cedar Planked Twinkies

Ice cream, toasted nuts, cherries, anything you can find while be good on cedar planked Twinkies. Just don’t leave the Twinkies on the grill too long or the cedar flavor might get too strong. You want that hint of cedar to kind of be lurking in the background and not jumping right out at you. You can also skip the cedar plank and grill the Twinkies directly on your grill.

Cooking on cedar planks can really change the ordinary into something special, which is why I do it often. For an appetizer, you’ll love my plank-smoked Camembert.

Check out my other cedar plank recipes: creamy mashed potatoes, Cajun mashed potatoes, beef sliders, chorizo portabellos, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, shrimp and grits and spicy grilled shrimp. For something truly special you’ll want to make my red white and blue cedar planked Brie.

Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy

I grilled Twinkies not long ago, and I thought, “Hey, these are good!”. Then, yesterday I tossed some Twinkies into my Char-Broil Big Easy for just a few minutes, and I thought, “Wow, these are absolutely INCREDIBLE!”. The Twinkies get a fantastic crust on them, while the insides get all ooey gooey, marshmallowy yummy! I mean, these little treats are beyond addicting!

Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy

I drizzled a bit of strawberry syrup over the Twinkies on the Char-Broil Big Easy to make them extra-special. Chocolate syrup. Roasted nuts. Whipped cream. Anything can be added, but they are also beyond fantastic by themselves. You can fit a lot of Twinkies on the Big Easy at once, specially if you have the Bunk Bed basket or a Wingin’ator 3000, making them the perfect dessert for a crowd. So grab a few boxes and get to cooking!

Grilled Twinkies

You can grill just about anything and it’ll come out great. I grilled donuts and they were fantastic. Twinkies are no exception to the rule. Grilled Twinkies take only minutes to cook, so they make for a very quick and easy dessert you can make after grilling burgers or hot dogs.

Grilled Twinkies

Grilled Twinkies taste just like toasted marshmallows. They’re surprisingly tasty and highly addicting.

My homemade Neapolitan ice cream teamed perfectly with the Twinkies. They were also great drizzled with a bit of chocolate syrup and topped with toasted chopped pecans. Yummy! For a slightly different variation, try cooking the Twinkies on cedar planks instead.

I grilled these Twinkies on my Weber Q 1200, a small portable grill that is also absolutely perfect for cooking at home for two. It heats up fast, and is more efficient than my big gas grill.

Also try my grilled banana sundae.
