Copycat Heinz Ketchup

  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste (I used low salt)
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup I used honey instead
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar try red wine vinegar for a really great twist!
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed more, or less (optional, but adds fantastic flavor)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder


  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Cover partially and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and let cool completely before refrigerating.
  • Ketchup gets even better the next day.
