I wasn’t going to post these slow-cooker bourbon cocktail sausages when I first made them. I didn’t think that the world needed another cocktail sausage recipe. But after making them, and watching them disappear at a family get-together, I decided I just had to share.

Tasty Yet Easy
Slow-cooker bourbon cocktail sausages are very, very simple, yet very, very delicious. I actually left out the bourbon and was still left with a (just slightly) spicy sauce that was wonderful with the smoked sausage slices. It’s hard to stop eating these. Really hard. If you have a large enough crockpot, and you’re heading to where there’s a crowd, I’d say double the recipe. Or triple it.
I used sliced smoked sausage when I made these slow cooker bourbon cocktail sausages, but you could just as easily add Lit’l Smokies cocktail links. Make sure you let everything get happy in the slow cooker for the full 3 hours. The sauce will flavor the sausages over time, so give them time.
You can also use just plain ole hot dogs, sliced. Not even fancy fru-fru hot dogs. The cheap ones do just fine. The sauce’ll make them fancy for you.

Just Grate!
This recipe calls for a bit of grated onion. Not minced or diced. Grated. That might not seem like much, but it can a few minutes or even more on my Microplane grater. That’s when I like to break out my countertop manual grater/shredder. I just cut off a good-sized chunk of onion and put it into this little magic machine. I turn the handle a few times, and boom! Grated onion. And cleanup? Just disassemble and toss the parts into the dishwasher. Crazy easy. I bought it for shredding cheese, but it does much more!
