French Connection Hot Dogs

These French Connection hot dogs have quickly become a favorite in our household. We almost always have everything to make them on hand, so they make for a great quick lunch. We love the crunch from the fried onions, the creamy cheese, and the spicy BBQ sauce. These dogs disappear fast. To round off the perfect lunch (or dinner) dogs, I served them with slaw and potato chips. Ah, that’s eatin’!

Any Good BBQ Sauce Is A Winner Here

Although a sweet or smoky BBQ sauce would work just fine on these French connection hot dogs, we prefer a spicier version. We have a pantry full of BBQ sauces, but our go-to is always something from Sweet Baby Ray’s. SBR sauces range from the traditional to the smoky to the spicy and everything in-between. Any one of them is great on these dogs!

The idea for French Connection dogs came from the menu from The Dogfather Truck, a food truck from Worcester, Massachusetts.

Cookin’ Dogs

Hey, cook the dogs however you want, on whatever you want. Griddle. Grill. Stovetop. Boiled. Broiled. Steamed. Baked. I don’t care. I don’t mean that in a snobby way. I’m just saying you do you. I happen to like mine grilled or air-fried. I get a crunchy skin. And I like that. And I can throw the buns on the grill or into the air fryer if I want them toasted (and I do). I often like to cut a thin slit lengthwise down my hot dog before cooking it. That slit will open up a bit as the dog heats. When I put it on the bun, I put the hot dog slit face-up. It gives the toppings a wonderful place to go. And stay. They don’t pop out with each and every bite!

Also try my French onion dogs..They’re magnifique!
