Wow. My mind was telling me “Hey, look! A donut!”. But my taste buds were telling me “These aren’t donuts! These look really different and cool and they taste absolutely amazing!”. Pineapple donuts! Woo hoo!

Pineapple rings coated in a simple batter that cooks up golden brown delicious (GBD), reminiscent of ‘normal’ donuts, are fantastic. Drizzled with maple syrup and sprinkled with confectioners sugar, they are sweet with a crazy pineapple twist. If you’ve been looking for a special desert that really, really wows your guests (or that special guest!) you’ve found it.

The Perfect Dessert

These little slices of heaven make for an outstandingly good dessert. They’re really pretty easy to make, too. You don’t need a deep fryer, a skillet or Dutch oven will do just fine. You need just enough oil to fry them in.

If you need you can make these ahead of time and keep them warm in a low oven. They will lose some of their delicious crunchiness and the pineapple will soften a bit. They’ll still taste fantastic, though. For best results, and the most happiness, though, serve them immediately after frying them!

I bought this really cool pineapple corer from Amazon the other day that I’ve been just waiting to use so I picked up a pineapple on sale, got the corer out of the box, and in about a minute I had perfect fresh pineapple rings for these pineapple donuts.

The corer can also be used to make a pineapple ‘bowl’, great for serving things like fried rice and grilled shrimp with pineapple. Or one of my favorites, teriyaki chicken pineapple bowls! It’s a fun little gadget.

Don’t mess around with the maple syrup. There are fakes out there made of corn syrup. That amazes me. Real maple syrup is one of the most amazing things ever made. It fascinates me, from how it’s harvested to how it’s made. And the flavor of real maple syrup just can’t be imitated.
