Catalina Salad Dressing

I’d say that about half the time, we make our own salad dressings and the other half of the times we buy them. There’s nothing wrong with bottled dressings, but sometimes we prefer something fresh and something we can ‘tweak’ a bit if we want. This Catalina salad dressing is one of our all-time favorites. It’s quite easy to make and always delicious. It also uses ingredients that we almost always have on hand, and that’s a definite plus too!

Catalina Salad Dressing

The grated white onion is one of the key ingredients in this Catalina salad dressing. Don’t skip it and don’t skimp on it. I used about a tablespoon, but you might want more. Or less. I used a Microplane grater to get the onion just perfect. It’s easy to hold and does a fantastic job.

This dressing gets even better after sitting in the fridge for a few hours. Just make sure to give it a good shake before serving.

I always double this recipe when making it.

I also find myself using these sauce dipping cups more and more when serving salad dressings. They help me control my servings a bit better.

Also try my Honky Tonk Sweet and Spicy salad dressing.

Fiery Catalina Wings

Visit my other site, For The Wing, for all things chicken-wing!

Despite how simple the sauce on these fiery Catalina wings was to make, it absolutely blew us away! We loved it! A tad of sweetness, a tad bit of tanginess, and a good bit of heat. Of course, you can adjust the heat to your liking, which is why making your own chicken wing sauce is so much more fun than using a sauce out of a bottle.

Fiery Catalina Wings

I cook a lot of wings using lots of different sauces, but there’s no doubt that fiery Catalina wings will be common in our house. Everything we need to make them is on-hand, so I can throw together the sauce in no time with no hassle. Perfect.

I store my leftover homemade sauces in squeeze bottles. If refrigerated, I set them out an hour before using so they come to room temperature. You don’t want to put cold sauce on hot wings!

Also try my Angry chicken wings. They have some kick!

I absolutely love chicken wings, cooked any way, with any sauce (or without). I love them so much that I created a free eCookbook that is full of my favorite wing recipes.

Homemade Catalina Salad Dressing

We loved this simple and delicious homemade Catalina salad dressing. Why would you buy dressing at the store when you can make an even better version at home? Just toss some simple ingredients that you probably already have on-hand into a blender. Pulse a few times, then transfer to a Mason jar. Not only do you have a fantastic tasting dressing, you have a healthier dressing for a fraction of the cost of store-bought.

For a little different flavor, substitute honey for the white sugar.

Homemade Catalina and Italian Salad Dressings

On the right is my homemade Italian dressing, which is not only great tasting, it is also just as easy to make as this Catalina dressing.

This dressing is great on my Mason jar salad.
