Woo hoo! French fries on the Char-Broil Big Easy! Crispy, hot French fries! Perfection in a pan, and ready in only minutes. Don’t want to heat up the house with the oven making fries during the warmer months? Just toss some (frozen) fries into the Big Easy!
Note: This recipe was developed using the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-Less Fryer. If you are cooking using the Char-Broil Smoker-Roaster Grill you should cook with the lid open and the temperature set to High. You might also need to adjust the cooking time.
How long does it take to bake French fries on the Char-Broil Big Easy? I found the cook time on the fries to pretty much match the times on the package, so it’s about as no-brainer as you can get.
These fries would not have been possible without Char-Broil’s Big Easy Cooking Rack. It adds a ton of cooking area to the fryer. And best, you can add 9″ pie pans, giving you the ability to cook a whole bunch of things, like fries! Check out my post on the rack for tips and tricks.
Here lately, the rack has been hard to find. Next best thing? The bunk bed basket. An absolute-got-to-have for the Big Easy.
You can also cook potato skins and hash brown patties on the Big Easy.

Where do you buy the pans for the big easy
Hi Wade. I bought the pans (I believe they are 8″) at a local grocery store. Unfortunately, Char-Broil no longer sells the rack that you see (somewhat) in the bottom picture. Hopefully they’ll bring it back. Here’s a link to my thoughts on the rack.

Can you stack 3 or 4 baskets with pie plates and frozen fries in cooker and do all at one time?
Hi Gloria, you can stack multiple bunk bed baskets. I wrote up a little something on it not too long ago.

I’m not sure about pie plates, though. You want some circulation around the fries and I can’t guarantee you’d get that with pie plates. Assuming you’re using disposable aluminum plates you could possibly poke holes in them first.

Hi Mike thanks for the fast response . Have you tried it with frozen french fries and if so how long does it take to cook them?
This post was actually done with frozen fries. They took about 20 minutes but the times will vary depending on your weather (mostly wind) conditions and how many levels you are cooking on. If it’s your first time I suggest just doing a handful in a basket or pie pan and timing them. They can be a bit finicky but once you get the hang of it they’re great!

Thank-you
Can you do homemade French fries in the char broil
I’ve never tried them. I’m thinking you probably can. I’ve made lots of bake potatoes in it. If you want them crunchy, I’m guessing that you’ll want to add something to them, such as cornstarch.

If you try it let me know I think it’s an awesome idea!
